Prime Minister Bruce Golding has placed on record the position that his Government does not intend to cut public-sector jobs despite its decision to return to a borrowing relationship with the International Monetary Fund.

Golding's comments were made in an exclusive interview on All Angles, a current affairs programme, which will be aired tonight at 9:00 on Television Jamaica Limited.

Public-sector jobs

"There are no plans to cut public-sector (workers') jobs, nor has there so far been any insistence in the discussions with the Fund for that," said Golding, who sat down for an hour-long interview with host Dionne Jackson Miller.

The interview is Prime Minister Golding's first major television interview since the global economic crisis began last year. Among the critical issues discussed on the programme were Government's spending during the recent by-elections and Golding's plans for the Finance Ministry with the imminent departure of Senator Don Wehby.

Initiatives

Prime Minister Golding also revealed that the Government would not be rescinding some of its social and developmental initiatives.

All Angles is a cutting edge current affairs programme, which was recently relaunched in its present 9 p.m. slot on Wednesdays.

Each week veteran journalist Dionne Jackson Miller grills guests on the burning issues of the day. Tonight, in the programme's final segment, questions will be taken from callers. You can also follow All Angles on Facebook.
