New festival queen to be named this weekend
A new cultural ambassador will be crowned tomorrow as the final for the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen competition takes place at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, beginning at 8 p.m.

The competition will see 13 parish representatives competing in the areas of talent, cultural awareness and poise for the opportunity to represent the island as a cultural ambassador.

Since April, more than 100 women between the ages of 18 and 25 competed at the parish level for the opportunity to participate in the national competition, which is being hosted under the theme 'Jamaican Woman ... Our National Treasure'.

In addition to the title, the queen will walk away with a 2006 Nissan Note, courtesy of Mack D's Auto, cash and other major prizes. A special guest performance will be delivered by popular singing group L.U.S.T.
