Like fine wine, the annual Roti Festival has grown better and bigger, with age. The second you entered the gates of Club India at Lady Musgrave Road on Sunday, the smell of curry started to tease the nostrils and activate the taste buds. Inside, the source was revealed in the form of curried chick peas, curried potato, curried goat, curried chicken, vada, kachari, and, of course, the star of the event, the roti.

This was the fifth staging of the festival that is put on by the National Indian Council in Jamaica. Now if you didn't know everything you should about Indian culture, that could have been rectified during this one event.

This year, the Indian Council brought things up a notch by showcasing the versatility of roti. Patrons were offered three choices of roti with their meals; dosti, dhal puri and aloo roti.

As it became difficult to find standing room on the grounds of Club India, the scorching mid-afternoon sun took a back seat to the scorching tongues the spicy cuisine left behind in every bite. Sponsors included: Wisynco Trading and Coca-Cola.

Who knew chick peas could be so delicious? When the Indians curry it you will be licking your fingers.
