Talk about beauty with a purpose! The elegant Miss Jamaica Universe, April Jackson, has a heart of gold to go with her stunning good looks. As founder of the Give Children A Future Foundation (GCAF), Jackson has been championing the cause of children, giving them a chance to overcome their obstacles and to be positive individuals in society.

So, to aid her foundation with much needed funds, the beauty queen hosted a cocktail reception and benefit performance of Basil Dawkins' play, Which Way Is Out? at the Little Little Theatre on Tuesday.

Fine catering

Guests were treated to fine catering from some of the city's best restaurants and an entertaining musical prelude to the thought-provoking play.

During cocktails, a slide show pointing out troubling survey facts about the plight of the nation's children, kept guests focused on the evening's essence.

The funds will also go towards improving facilities and infrastructure of the homes. Jackson also hopes to create programmes to involve the community.

GCAF works with three homes - the National Children's Home of Jamaica, the Marigold Child Care Centre and the Glenhope Girls' Home.
