Dehring new head of RJR Foundation

Dehring

Christopher Dehring, for-mer chief executive officer of Cricket World Cup 2007, is the new chairman of the RJR Sports Foundation.

The appointment of Dehring to replace former chairman Michael Hall was announced on Wednesday by managing director of the RJR Communications Group, Gary Allen.

Clement Radcliffe, former head of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association and principal of Glenmuir High School, will serve as Dehring's deputy on the 10-member board.

Mike Fennell, president of the Jamaica Olympic Association and president of the Commonwealth Games Federation, is one of two directors appointed from the previous board. He will be the new chairman of the selection committee.

Molly Rhone, president of the International Federation of Netball Associations, has also been reappointed to the board.

The RJR Sports Foundation is responsible for the staging of the annual Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year awards ceremony.

Other newcomers to the board are former West Indies captain, Courtney Walsh, Olympian Grace Jackson, former director of tourism and director general in the Ministry of Tourism, Carrole Guntley, veteran sports journalist Courtney Sergeant and Yvonne Wilks, head of Cable Jamaica Limited (the cable arm of the RJR Communications Group).

According to a release from RJR, a partner sponsor will be named to complete the board which will serve for three years.
