Director of Emergency Disaster Management and Special Services in the Ministry of Health, Dr Marion Bullock DuCasse, yesterday disclosed that the latest person to die from the infection was within the high-risk group and developed complications.
As usual, Bullock DuCasse provided no details on the patient but noted that the high-risk group includes pregnant women, persons with chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma, and children under five years old.
Bullock DuCasse also disclosed that Jamaica now has 191 laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus.
She urged Jamaicans to continue to take the necessary precautions to secure their health as the country continues to experience cases of influenza A.
