NOTE-WORTHY

Fix the roads

Re Milk River bath story; yes, this is a great healthy bath and we enjoyed it to the fullest with friends on our last visit to Jamaica. The staff is friendly and nice but, what a horrible road to drive to reach there? Will it ever get fixed?

More potholes exist than I've ever seen anywhere and are deep enough to smash up any vehicle. We moved from corner to corner of the road to find a drivable spot. It took long to get there because of bad road conditions. It could be a great revenue maker if only someone would fix the road. Our friends, six who went laud the springs, swore never to drive that road again unless it is better.

Community heroes

In commemorating National Heroes Week, it is noteworthy that though many of our heroes were academic heroes, all were community heroes.

Present-day education generally results in academic heroes but community zeroes. This is because students fail to realise that gratitude is due to the 'society' which gave them the opportunity for the education they receive.

Community service should be inculcated as an integral part of the education process and in the long term, we will gradually develop more caring citizens as well as a caring society.

Education is for life, not just making a living and the process of education should ideally lead to a lifelong transformation.

Big up Flair

Congrats on Flair's 25th anniversary.

I have been a reader from the first issue. It is just as rich with information that can be used now as it was 25 years ago.

Read before you talk

It has been twice now that I have seen individuals criticise Ian Boyne's In Focus pieces. Wouldn't it have been wiser to at least read the suggested literature so that an informed discussion can take place? But that has been a problem with a number of Christian apologetics: knee-jerk reaction to any questioning of their beliefs.

I suggest some reading is in order.
