Ursula 'Myka' Wiesmann 'discovered' yoga after it became necessary to take a break from jogging. Enthralled by how great she felt after her first class, Myka continued. Her fascination with the ancient discipline deepened after Subhadra Bowman of Yoga Angels helped her to cure a serious lower lung infection that doctors and antibiotics had been unsuccessful in treating.

A Jamaican native, Bowman recently returned to the island from California. The founder of Yoga Angels, she has been teaching yoga classes and workshops in St Andrew at Gymkhana, located at the Hilton hotel.

The benefits of yoga have been acknowledged by many doctors who themselves have been restored to health through its practice.

In a recent workshop at Gymkhana, Bowman highlighted the therapeutic benefits of a wide range of yoga postures. "I am passionate about the healing powers of yoga!" she insisted.

Gymkhana in association with Yoga Angels, will host a second workshop titled 'Yoga for Health' as well as offer private sessions at its Montego Bay branch on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12.
