JN at 135 years
THE STORY of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) is like a large tapestry tightly woven during 135 years in the provision of innovative home loans as well as savings products and services. These have been presented by a dedicated staff committed to effective service delivery.

From its humble beginnings in a church in Westmoreland, JNBS has evolved from a series of mergers of parish building societies which were founded on the desire of Jamaicans to save towards improving their quality of life.

Largest building society

Today, JNBS is the oldest and largest building society in Jamaica and the Caribbean. The epitome of financial strength and stability, JNBS is also the fourth-largest institution in assets and capital base among Jamaican financial institutions.

During its 135 years of operation, JNBS has extended its reach to the Jamaican diaspora in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada and the Cayman Islands, helping many to realise their dreams of home ownership and financial security.

The institution has embraced change and remains relevant in the dynamic environment in which it operates. Through a local network of 24 branches, 20 Money Shop locations and a cashless financial centre, JNBS provides a competitive range of home-loan products, as well as retail savings options, trading in foreign currencies and money-transfer facilities.

Customers also benefit from investment-management advice, general insurance services, real-estate brokerage and small-business loan financing, which is facilitated through the JN Group.

Social outreach

Through its social outreach arm - foundation - the building society has partnered with individuals and organisations to make meaningful contributions in the areas of health, education, sports and community development.

As JNBS moves towards another important milestone in its history, it pays tribute to those responsible for making it the institution of first choice for financial and other related services. The loyalty of its staff and the confidence of its members are the basis of the institution's success.
