The Ruins at The Falls in Ocho Rios, St Ann, provided a romantic setting for lovebirds Omahar Stephenson (with the blessings of his parents Louis and Marjorie Stephenson) and Sharon Gregory to celebrate their marriage on January 18.

The bride, a human resource development manager, and the groom who runs his own events-marketing company, both reside in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They flew to the island with guests from Canada, the United Kingdom, and Atlanta, California, New York and Miami in the United States to join their Jamaican friends and family.

The couple met five years ago when Stephenson started visiting the McCaws' home in pursuit of Sharon's cousin Christine. Christine would ask him to pick up Sharon on his way over and take her home. Soon their friendship grew and then love found its way into their relationship.

When Stephenson proposed to Sharon last August, they chose their homeland to say their vows in a ceremony officiated by the Rev Wilfred Alexander. The couple honeymooned at Ebb Tide, a private villa on the north coast.

The wedding cake, designed by Ocho Rios' Veronica Watkis, portrayed the tropical garden theme of the Stephenson's wedding.
