MY DOWNTIME WITH ...Alia Orane

Alia - Rudolph Brown/Chief Photographer

She's young, talented and attractive and just happens to be the daughter of GraceKennedy's Douglas Orane and his wife Michelle.

Alia is currently living in New York and working as a freelance production designer for Scholastic Inc. But she also designs her own line of handbags and clutch purses (aliamichele) and accessories in her spare time (www.aliamichele.com). We caught up with her recently and asked her the following questions.

What was the last book you read?

The last book I read was A Long Way Gone by Ishamel Beah. Very graphic and sad but I read it in two days. It was that good!

Which CD are you listening to now?

I recently went back into the archives and started to listen to Kanye West's Graduation album again and I also got into Adele's album, 19. She's a pretty new artiste from the United Kingdom and she has a lovely voice.

Where was the last interesting place you visited?

The last interesting place I visited was Greenwich, St Andrew, Jamaica. I went there for Christmas with my entire family and although I was sick and it was freezing cold, I really enjoyed being in the mountains at a lovely house, with an awesome view and the people I love. I also hadn't been to Newcastle (which is nearby) in years, so getting the chance to walk around there for a little was wonderful.
