The march, organised by the Violence Prevention Alliance (VPA), is to commence activities in support of Peace Month, this March. Its aim, chairman of the VPA, Dr Elizabeth Ward, says, is to draw attention to the strides being made in some of the nation's most volatile communities.
"The march is kind of coming out and saying that we are working hard, we are working at the community level, but we want to come out all together and say we are all for peace and walk for peace," says Ward.
"The community people really appreciate it," she adds. "It means a lot to them like they have got so much recognition for doing something good rather than just the recognition for being bad," she says.
Three starting points
Sunday afternoon's march will start at three points in the Corporate Area: the Police Officers' Club on Hope Road in St Andrew, Eastern Police Centre on Windward Road and from Cross Roads. All three marches will end at the National Stadium car park on Arthur Wint Drive in St Andrew.
The event will end with a peace concert, which will also mark the commemoration of International Women's Day.
