First Global appoints regional bank manager
First Global Bank has appointed Donald Courtney Wilson, a career banker who previously worked with the National Commercial Bank (NCB), as assistant vice-president of its western region.

Wilson is currently manager of the bank's Montego Bay branch and also has responsibility for the commercial-lending portfolio. His appointment took effect January 19.

"I know the region very well and bring the experience, having worked in Trelawny, Lucea and also in MoBay, and I intend to grow the company's deposits and improve its profitability with my strength in forging and maintaining business relationships," said Wilson.

Fifth-largest commercial bank

First Global Bank, a member of the GraceKennedy conglomerate, is ranked as Jamaica's fifth-largest commercial bank in terms of assets under management, which stood at $26.9 million at the end of September.

The bank has a branch network totalling five - three in Kingston, one in Montego Bay and the other in Mandeville.

Its suite of products includes certificates of deposit, corporate and retail lending and foreign-exchange trading.

Wilson has approximately 28 years' experience in the banking field, having acted in various capacities, including credit analysis and operations. Prior to joining First Global Bank, he worked as branch manager at the NCB St Ann's Bay branch.

Wilson has certification in the areas of securities, operational procedures, marketing and organisational development.

He is also a member of the St Ann Chamber of Commerce and a two-time national table tennis champion.
