Gov’t to continue HIV/AIDS funding
Health minister, Dr. Fenton Ferguson, says the government is taking steps to ensure the continuation of Jamaica’s HIV/AIDS programme, when international funding comes to an end next year.
Treatment for HIV positive persons is mainly covered through the Global Fund, but that is expected to come to an end in July 2013.
However, Dr. Ferguson said the Global Fund has expressed a willingness to put in place transitional funding up to 2015.
