Murder accused freed
Barbara Gayle, Staff Reporter

A man who was accused of killing another man, in close proximity to a crime scene being investigated by the police on Great George's Street, Westmoreland in 2010 has been freed in the Westmoreland Circuit Court.

The jury retired for 15 minutes yesterday and found 24-year-old fisherman Damion Hart, who is also called "Monkey Man" not guilty of the murder of Conroy Duhaney.

Hart, who was represented by attorneys-at-law Leonard Green and Tashakay Peru denied committing the offence.

He said he was a spectator at the murder scene being processed by the police.

Two policemen had testified for the Crown that they had cordoned off sections of Great George’s Street, where Glendon Barrett was shot and killed.

They said they saw Hart fire five shots at Duhaney.

Justice Donald McIntosh presided at the trial.
