Several top Jamaican athletes, including Olympic 100 metres champion Shelly-Ann Fraser and 200 metres gold-medallist Veronica Campbell-Brown, will be in action at today's Herculis Super Grand Prix in Monaco.

Fraser and Campbell-Brown will clash over 100 metres. The diminutive Fraser, who clocked 10.88 seconds to win at the National Championships this year, is the second-ranked female athlete so far in this event while Campbell-Brown had done 10.96 to be the fifth-ranked athlete in the world over the distance.

After finishing second to world-leader Kerron Stewart at the Rome Golden League in 10.91, the Olympic champion will be anxious to get back to winning ways.

Campbell-Brown, who recently missed the 100 metres in Athens due to a slight injury, showed that she is back to her best when she clocked 22.37 seconds to win the 200 metres quite easily at the weekend in Barcelona, Spain. Jamaica's Aleen Bailey and Chandra Sturrup of The Bahamas will also be in the 100 meters line-up.who has gone sub 11 seconds this year are also in the line up.

Stiff competition

Following her defeat by world leader Lashinda Demus of the United States over the weekend, Olympic 400 metres hurdles champion Melaine Walker will get an early chance to reverse the placings. Demus turned back Walker at the Crystal Palace meet on Saturday with an impressive 53.65 seconds.

Other Jamaican women in action will be Brigitte Foster-Hylton in the 100m hurdles, Trecia Smith in the triple jump and 800m runner Kenia Sinclair.

Among the men the highlight should be the 400 metres hurdles with Jamaica's top man, Isa Phillips taking on the crack American trio world leader Bershawn Jackson, 2007 World champion Kerron Clement and Olympic champion Angelo Taylor. Jamaican veteran Danny McFarlane will also be in the event.
