Spencer trial on hold again
A SCHEDULING clash is being blamed for the failure of the North East St Elizabeth Member of Parliament Kern Spencer's corruption and fraud trial to get off the ground.

The trial, which was scheduled to start in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, was postponed until September 7.

The matter is set to conclude on September 17.

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey told Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn that the court's diary unfortunately "is unable to accommodate you this week".

When Llewellyn asked the judge to commence the matter and continue at a later date, Pusey responded: "I have one body, two hands and lots of work."

Pusey is the presiding magistrate in the case of the Crown against Superintendent Harry 'Bungles' Daley, who is charged with acts of corruption.
