The ISSA Boys and Girls Cham-pionship, All-age Junior High Championship and the UTech Invitational are all held in April.
Why? These are extremely badly timed for the sporting public.
It could be the solid reason too why so many of our athletes suffer frequent muscular injuries in the fast-pace scheduling of athletic meets in Jamaica.
The scanty attendance at the stadium for the UTech Invitational is a result of the expensive entry already paid to see the Boys and Girls Championship that drew the mammoth crowd of over 30,000 spectators, and then last week's staging of the ISSA All-Age/Junior High Champs.
People do not only sit and watch Boys and Girls Champs but purchase expensive paraphernalia to cheer their school on.
The grandstand at Champs was filled to capacity with an entry fee of up to $2,000. The bleachers were also jammed for Champs.
I am pleading to ISSA to look carefully at scheduling these events over a three month period, so that people can make better plans financially.
I am an ardent fan of athletics, but had to commit myself to other financial demands, and could not attend the invitational game.
I am,etc.,
