LETTER OF THE DAY - Streamline Government ministries and functions
The Editor, Sir: The prime minister's gesture of taking a 15 per cent pay cut, and directing other parliamentarians to do a similar thing, is more symbolic than substantive.

Dictatorships won't work
The Editor, Sir: This letter is directed to the author of 'Benevolent dictatorship?' the letter of the day of April 17.

Nuclear energy development
The Editor, Sir: Vallana Hill's article (of April 16) about nuclear energy clearly shows the way ahead, and how our leaders should be refocusing, especially when the OUR is now being confronted with the JPS's request for a rate increase.

An opportunity to reinvent
The Editor, Sir: The current economic crisis has presented the prospect to companies and individuals an opportunity to stop, step back and to ask, 'Why do we do what we do? Are there better or more efficient ways to do what we do?'

Too many April sports meets
The Editor, Sir: The ISSA Boys and Girls Cham-pionship, All-age Junior High Championship and the UTech Invitational are all held in April.

Why? These are extremely badly timed for the sporting public.
