Jackson joins fellow ambas-sadors, Olympians Hasely Craw-ford and Ato Boldon.
Crawford, who presented the instrument of appointment to Jackson yester-day at the Hilton Hotel in New Kingston, is the first Caribbean man to win gold in the 100 metres at the Olympics. He was the 1976 champion.
Twenty-six regional countries are scheduled to participate in the Games. They will compete in five sporting disciplines: boxing, netball, tennis, track and field and volleyball.
The Caribbean Games will be held every four years in the year immediately following the Olympic Games. Also at yesterday's press conference were Denise Demming, chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the Games, Francis Williams-Smith, chief executive officer of the organising committee, and Jamaica's Don Anderson.
Anderson, a vice-president of the Jamaica Olympic Association, is one of five directors of the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees, which has oversight responsibility for the Caribbean Games.
