WESTERN BUREAU:
"No females, no politics and no religion," comes easily from the mouths of the men who make up the coveted networking all-male Monday Club.
In truth, Christmas is the only time that women are allowed to grace this social gathering, but Outlook, through the kindness of president of Scotiabank Jamaica, Bruce Bowen, and his district regional manager, Michael Thompson, broke the 'rules' last Monday allowing this newspaper to invade an evening of 'getting to know you' at the Sunset Beach Resort and Spa in Montego Bay.
The financial institution is allowed to play host once per year during March, while the other 11 members, like Exclusive Holiday's Fred Smith; William Craig, head of Billy Craig Insurance; or Rose Hall Resort and Spa's Dermot Connolly, also hosting.
PricewaterhouseCoopers, Half Moon, Jamaica Tours Limited, National Commercial Bank, KPMG, Casa de Oro, Tropicana Jewellers and Royal Shop are the others that make up the list.
Keeping the business community together
Born out of an idea that came from Tropical Tours' Ralph Smith, the late William 'Billy' Craig, Senator Noel Sloley and Inbond Merchant Association President Kishim Samtani, the Monday Club aims to keep the business community together. And they did just that with the new president of the bank.
Bonding males included Clayton Morgan, Joe Hilton, Wayne Powell, Wordsworth Watson, Brian Booth, Stephen Dear, Ian Kerr, Troy Vernon, Gordon Baldie, Fernando Bosque, Garth Graham, Rhoan Bennett, Henry McCurdy, Lachu Ramchandani, Rohan Chopra, Ainsworth Leach, Christopher Samuels, Hector Jones, Brian Chambers, Richard Clarke, Paul Wallace, Andre Thompson and Howard Parchment.
