Let us pray!

Politicians, like everyone else, need to stay connected with their source of religious inspiration now more than ever. As we continue our series that looks at the favourite prayer or passages of scripture of well-known Jamaicans, we asked Jamaica Labour Party Senator Arthur Williams and People's National Party Member of Parliament Robert 'Bobby' Pickersgill to share their favourite passages from the Bible.

  • Senator Arthur Williams believes every word of John Chapter 14, which begins: "Do not be worried and upset, Jesus told them. Believe in God and believe also in me. There are many rooms in my father's house, and I am going to prepare a place for you. I would not tell you this if it were not so. And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am."

  • For Pickersgill, it's the often-used Psalm 23: "The Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need. He lets me rest in fields of green grass. I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life; and your house will be my home as long as I live." (from the Good News Bible)
