Moderation in all things
The Editor, Sir:

Heartiest congratulations to the Broadcasting Commission on the stand you have taken against lewd and violent lyrics being propagated through the media.

Whereas I have nothing against dancehall as a genre of music, I do believe there must be a limit to which explicit or suggestive lyrics can be taken, especially in consideration of our children, whose impressionable minds we must protect. Therefore, the same standard for sanitising lyrical content must also be applied to other forms of popular music.

Caution to gospel DJs

I would also like to issue a word of caution to our gospel DJs. Yes, we need some hype and we must be contemporary in sharing the Gospel today. I understand the concept of our presentations being cutting edge; however, there's no need to go overboard. The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. The main thing in gospel music, regardless of the musical style, is the Gospel. Moderation should be our guide in all things.

I am, etc.,
