The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) is currently accepting entries for this year's entertainment arts competitions, which include the Jamaica Festival Song Competition, the Jamaica Gospel Song Competition and the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition.

Auditions

Continuing in the tradition reignited last year through the staging of the Jamaica Festival Song Competition, the JCDC will be looking for a song that will form a musical backdrop for this year's Independence celebrations. Persons interested in participating in the Festival Song Competition will be required to submit a demo on tape or CD and the lyrics of the song.

Aspiring artistes in this year's Jamaica Gospel Song Competition will be required to attend a series of islandwide auditions organised by the commission.

Young women, aged 18 - 25, are invited to participate in the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition. Participants will compete at the parish level before moving on to the national finals to vie for the opportunity to represent the island as cultural ambassador.

Entry forms for all competitions are available at www.jcdc.org.jm or at JCDC offices islandwide. The deadline for entries in all competitions is February 27.
