West Indies have retained the No.7 spot while India jumped to second position in the Reliance Mobile ICC Test Championship team ratings after both sides completed their latest series yesterday in New Zealand and India, respectively.
West Indies concluded their series 0-0 with New Zealand after the second Test ended in a draw while the Indians reclaimed the No.2 spot from South Africa after a 1-0 series triumph over England.
West Indies had displaced the Black Caps at No.7 ahead of their two-match series and there is no change in their pre-series points and positions after neither team managed to secure a win in the short series.
Next test in february
The next Test commitment for the West Indies is in February when they host England for a four-Test series while New Zealand play India in a two-Test series in March.
India had won the first Test in Chennai by six wickets and drew the second in Mohali yesterday, enough to earn them two ratings points and go ahead of South Africa in second, a position they had briefly enjoyed after a 2-0 home series victory over Australia recently.
South Africa can once again regain second position if they win their current three-match series against Australia by 2-1 or 2-0, or draw the series 1-1.
Graeme Smith's side can even leapfrog Ricky Ponting's side at the top of the ladder by a fraction of a point if they win the remaining two Tests to sweep the series 3-0.
However, if the Australians win the last two Tests, they will not only widen the gap to 15 points but will also dash the Proteas' hopes of regaining the second position from India.
