It was a 'fishy' affair at the fifth staging of the Old Harbour Bay Fish and Seafood Festival last Sunday. Blessed with very good weather, hundreds flocked to the Jamaica Public Service Company Sports Club to engage their taste buds in the wide array of fish and seafood dishes available.

When The Gleaner visited the venue at 2 p.m., the more than one dozen providers of fish dishes were already outdoing themselves. The dishes ranged from smoked, roasted, steamed, fried, baked, jerked fish to fish stew. Accompanying these were roast breadfruit and yam, boiled bananas, hard-dough bread, festival and the ever-popular bammy.

Several persons told The Gleaner that they enjoyed the dishes and the weather, which had put a damper on the previous four festivals. Promoter Carlos Waul said the festival has "come of age".

"We believe that Old Harbour Bay is going to take over as the king of seafood festivals," Waul added.

For those who did not want to partake in the fish dishes, there was a magnificent array of beverages, snacks, jerk pork, chicken, roast corn and more, to satisfy all taste buds.
