Jonkunnu in Paradise

Just when delegates of the 30th Caribbean Travel Marketplace thought the Bahamians had discarded their jonkunnu for opera, they spun a surprise.

It was the traditional drumming and dance of the jonkunnu that said "welcome to paradise" at the opening ceremony of the annual tourism event last Sunday night at the fabulous Atlantis hotel, Paradise Island in The Bahamas.

And just as they opened with fanfare and excitement, the party people of the 700 islands sent delegates home on Tuesday night in fine style.

The Gleaner's Social pages did not miss a beat and brings you highlights of the fun people who were in attendance.
