The Editor, Sir: In order to curb crime in Jamaica, we must address the disintegration of the family. The breakdown of the family is the root cause of lawlessness.

Whose life is worth more?
The Editor, Sir: In response to the death sentences handed down to the accused murderers of the Lyns, Councillor Sally Porteous, the Jamaica Labour Party caretaker for the Central Manchester division, was quoted elsewhere in the media as saying, "I had to be here to hear the sentence of the most vile creatures who murdered two of the best people in Jamaica"...

Seething with anger
The Editor, Sir: I write this letter with some amount of anger. It appears that the Government of the day is forgetting that poor and unfortunate people are in Jamaica, too. Why is it that we will be taking in Haitians? The last time I checked, we were a poor Third-World country.

A rare display of courage
The Editor, Sir: The recent refusal of Minister of Justice Dorothy Lightbourne to order the extradition of Pressley Bingham is a display of courage not seen often enough when Government officials have to deal with the United States of America.<
