Noel Thompson, Gleaner Writer

Western Bureau:

A MAN who was detained by the police in connection with a massive gun and ammunition find in Montego Bay on Thursday was still being interrogated by senior investigators up to late yesterday.

"I can confirm that the man is still in custody and is being questioned. No charges have been preferred against him as yet," Karl Angell told The Gleaner yesterday.

Angell is the director of communications for the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

About 3 p.m. Thursday, police personnel and Customs security recovered three guns and over 200 rounds of ammunition.

This followed a search of the AJAS cargo warehouse at the Sangster International Airport.

Customs personnel had alerted the police to a suspicious piece of cargo.

The find included one Haskell .45 semi-automatic pistol; one Model 995 rifle; an Intratec 9mm luger semi-automatic pistol; fifty 9mm cartridges; fifty .45mm cartridges; fifty .40mm cartridges; sixty 223mm cartridges; forty 7.62mm cartridges, and four magazines for different-calibre firearms.
