Village United, who have been showing indifferent form in the 2009-10 Digicel Premier League, were in rampant form on Wednesday afternoon when they spanked Spicy Hill FC 7-0 in the final of Trelawny Football Association/Dr Patrick Harris KO football competition.

In the game played at the Elliston Wakeland Youth Centre, the Cassman Williams-coached Village United, in 10th position in the DPL, scored three times in the first half and four times in the second half.

However, despite their loss, Spicy Hill will still represent Trelawny in the 2010 Flow-sponsored all-island knockout competition. Village would have already qualified by virtue of their DPL status.

Village took took the lead in the 26th minute when former national player Teofore Bennett converted from close range.

Before the celebrations had subsided, Village struck for a second time in the 28th minute. Orlando McBayne found space in the Spicy Hill defence and made no mistake, firing home to make the score 2-0.

After coming up against some amount of resistance from the Spicy Hill defence, Village United again found the target in the 45th minute. Kenardo Wilson, who has been struggling at the DPL level, left the goalkeeper helpless with his shot, to give his team a 3-0 half-time advantage.

The second half goals came from Delroy Ellis (51st and 90th) and Shavar Campbell (54th and 72nd)..
