Heat in court stalls proceedings
The unbearable heat in the courtroom yesterday forced Senior Puisne Judge Marva McIntosh to grant an early adjournment at the trial of the two men charged with the murder of elderly Manchester couple Richard and Julia Lyn.

The air-conditioning unit broke down yesterday morning. The judge said she hoped that when the trial resumes today, the air-conditioning unit would be fixed.

Lennox Swaby, 28, farmer and taxi driver of Hopeton district, Manchester, and Calvin Powell, 26, garbage-truck driver, of New Green, Manchester, have been on trial since October 5 for the double murder.

The Crown, represented by prosecutors Lisa Palmer Hamil-ton and Claudette Thompson, is alleging that the Lyns were strangled during a robbery at their house in Mandeville on December 9 or 10, 2006.
