Student wants life ban for King

KING

The 20-year-old female student assaulted by Reggae Boy Marlon King, believes the forward should be banned from playing the sport for life, according to a report carried on the BBC's website (news.bbc.co.uk).

Speaking to the News of The World newspaper, Emily Carr said King was "not fit to ever play for any team again".

"King's defence moaned that the sentence would lose him £1 million in earnings - but I've lost my face."

On Thursday of last week, King was sentenced to 18 months in prison after being convicted of sexual assault and actual bodily harm by a jury by a margin of 10-2.

Boxer punch

The student recounted how King punched her, following her rejection of the strikers sexual advances.

"It was like being hit with a brick in the face. My friend who saw it said King took a step back and delivered the punch like a boxer in the ring - with full force."

The striker has since been sacked by English Premier League club Wigan but maintains his innocence and is in the process of appealing both decisions. King has had 13 previous convictions, including one for violence against women.

Gordon Taylor from the Profes-sional Footballers' Association, however, insisted the union will support King when he is released from prison.

Taylor believes it will be possible for the striker to resume his career, once he has served his sentence and is remorseful.

"If he serves his time, is contrite and shows a willingness to get his life back on track then that (football) is his skill and that's the right of every individual.
