Moral training needed
The Editor, Sir:

While I do agree parents are responsible for the behaviour of their children, let us remember that a lot of these parents are children themselves. This is where our churches should step in and offer moral training to our people in order to end this cycle of children having children.

It does not make sense for us to sit in the pews, stand in the pulpit and condemn someone who we have not given the guidance of how to be a good parent. The Bible teaches us how to create good health, wealth and peace in our society but some of our pastors stand on the pulpit and use this as a whip against their congregation instead of offering a cushion. This repels instead of attract.

While we are questioning the conduct of our parents, children, police, Government, let us remember what the Good Book tells us about the effect our relationship with God does to our people. With all the mayhem taking place around us, it is time for us to examine ourselves and our faith in God.

I am, etc.,
