Barbican's Jermaine Parris. - File
Promoted Rae Town continued their impressive start to the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Claro Super League with a 1-0 victory over Real Mona at Breezy Castle in Saturday's round of matches.
Kayon Leslie scored the lone goal of the game in the 65th minute, his first of the season. The win moved Rae Town to 10 points and gave them sole leadership of the league, as previous joint leaders Mountain View United and Constant Spring played to a 0-0 scoreline at Excelsior.
Santos, who also entered the fourth round tied atop the tables and coming off a morale-boosting win over last season's runners-up, Cavalier, were expected to get the better of Barbican, but went down 2-0. Santos were forced to field a team depleted by injuries and suspensions and could only turn up with 13 players. Barbican should have taken the lead as early as the 10th minute when they were awarded a penalty, but Jermaine Parris' kick was saved by Santos custodian Denzil Isaacs. Barbican would, however, not be denied, and sealed victory courtesy of goals from Parris and veteran Devon Bissick in the 61st and 88th minutes, respectively.
3-0 victory
Cavaliar (9 pts) bounced back from their disappointing result against Santos to record a 3-0 victory over bottom-placed team Maverley/Hughenden. Cavalier now sit in second place thanks to goals from Gee Daley (27th), Paul Grant (43rd) and Donovan Alvaranga (88th).
In the two other games played, Meadhaven United earned their first point of the season following a 0-0 draw with Duhaney Park at Baldwin Crescent, while Bull Bay and the Jamaica Defence Force also played to a goalless draw.
