Why can't they be treated here?
The Editor, Sir:

I note that the second of the recent gaggle of ministers of national security has elected to seek treatment for a personal medical issue in the United States.

Once could be an accident. Twice is a trend. The next time will be a habit. I expect the prime minister to deliver to the nation a detailed statement as to the reasons for this trip. What is wrong with the local medical facilities offered to the rest of us by the Government?

The minister is a senior leader of this country. Should the rest of us follow his lead in this regard? Can we?

I am, etc.,
