Henry wants probe into oil theft at JPS
IN LIGHT of the theft of oil and a subsequent fire which left 18,000 Clarendon residents in darkness on Sunday afternoon, member of parliament for Central Clarendon, Mike Henry, has called for a thorough investigation by both the police and the Jamaica Public Service Company Ltd (JPS).

"We cannot have selfish individuals putting the lives and well-being of almost an entire town like May Pen in jeopardy, with nothing tangible being done to deter such actions in the future," said Henry.

According to the power company, the fire started from an internal fault in one of the transformers at the Parnassus substation in the parish.

A press release from the JPS said the situation developed after criminals stole oil from a transformer in the substation last Saturday evening.
