The 'Red Brigade' travelled to the Edward Seaga Sports Complex yesterday and secured a 2-0 victory, their first of the season, in a sixth-round Digicel Premier League clash with fierce rivals Tivoli Gardens, the defending champions.
The homesters were suffering their first defeat of the season and relinquished their lead at the top of the table to Portland's St Georges, which now have 14 points after a 2-0 win over Sporting Central Academy at Lynch Park. Tivoli have 13 points.
Boys' Town took the lead in eighth minute when Daemon Benjamin pounced on a failed clearance by Tivoli after a free kick. He let fly a powerful shot from just outside the penalty box, which nestled in the back of the net.
Coach pleased with win
Boys' Town then killed off the contest with a second goal on the stroke of half-time when Peter Keyes tapped in a wonderful cross.
Andrew Price, coach of Boys' Town, was understandably very pleased with the win.
"We played a very disciplined, tactical game today and when we got our chances, we took them," Price said. "This is our first win, we want to see if we can go on a winning streak and continue to win games," he added.
Tivoli's coach, Lenworth Hyde Sr, was gracious in defeat.
"Congratulations to the Boys' Town team for coming to Tivoli and getting three points," Hyde said. "It wasn't going to happen today, leading up to this game too much things happen this week and I could have felt it. I know the reason why we lost the game and we just have to work and improve that area of our football."
