Kidnappers return boy unharmed
The 12-year-old son of a prominent businessman in central Jamaica who was abducted earlier this week is back with his family.

The boy was snatched on his way to school in the presence of other students, Wednesday morning, in a residential community.

The incident has reportedly left central Jamaica shaken.

Minister of National Security Dwight Nelson told The Gleaner yesterday that he and senior police personnel were monitoring the situation, but declined to elaborate.

Persons claiming to be eyewitnesses said two vehicles drove down on the unsuspecting boy who was headed to school, after which he was placed in one.

It's understood that the businessman was later contacted by a man who informed him that the 12-year-old was in their custody.

The alleged kidnapper reportedly demanded $10 million for the boy's safe return.

overprotective

Following two days of tense negotiations, relieved family members are said to be overprotective of the other boys who are members of the family.

A close friend said the family was grateful for the assistance given by the police. "They had useful assistance from the police who helped to bring the negotiations to closure in ensuring the child's safe release."

The businessman, who says the child was returned unhurt, says he believes there is a list of persons the kidnappers are targeting.
