The Editor, Sir:
I have never written to you before but feel so strongly about this matter that I'm driven to write and hope that you will find a little space to publish my letter. Although I don't know her, fair is fair and right-thinking Jamaicans must stand up for good.
Recently, I listened to Marcia Forbes on Nationwide Radio explaining why she left the public service and can only say, "Wow, what a woman! Forbes is an excellent communicator." She laid out quite clearly why she decided to resign. Those of us with morals and values will hail her for taking such a principled stand as the conflict of interest issues were obvious.
Good brain
From all reports, Marcia Forbes is competent and capable. Apart from her track record of performance at TVJ and in her family business, I have read that she has a first class honours degree from UWI, a master's degree from a prestigious overseas university, is a Fulbright Scholar and, I believe, just completed her PhD. Forbes is a hard worker with a good brain and Jamaica needs people like her.
For the life of me, I can't see why she would want to continue to support the JLP and Mr Golding, announcing in the interview that he is her prime minister. Everyone knows they will victimise her so why doesn't she just call it a day and move up to the PNP?
I am, etc.,
