News of Terry's death sent shock waves across the business and tourism sectors in Montego Bay.

Terry, 65, had worked in the tourism sector for about three decades and was made a Member of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II on July 31, 1992.

He represented the British High Commission in the western end of the island.

Still looking for clues

Up to last night, police were still combing his residence for clues that could assist in their investigation.

Up to around 7 p.m., his body was still at the scene.

Police said Terry drove home Tuesday night and approximately 1:30 p.m. yesterday his body was discovered lying outside with a cord and a piece of clothing tied around his neck.

Police also said it appeared Terry had been beaten. Bloodstains were found at the premises.

Deputy Superintendent in charge of crime for St James, Michael Garrick, said early investigations suggest there was no forced entry and a note had been left on the victim's bed, details of which were not disclosed to the media.
