Last laugh!

A United States comedienne is being sued for making mother-in-law jokes.

Sunda Croonquist has been taken to court over claims she has been spreading "false, defamatory and racist" lies about her husband's mother through her on-stage gags.

Ruth Zafrin is suing her daughter-in-law for damages, as well as requesting the court bans her from making jokes at her expense in the future.

Well-known US performer Sunda has refused to pay out, but has promised to drop the pranks from her routine.

Half Swedish, half African-American Sunda says she looks to her own life experiences for her routine and admits it sometimes focuses on the differences between her and Ruth, who is Jewish.

She also admitted the legal action had put a huge strain on her family and lawyer husband Mark.

Bridal bashing

A British bride was jailed after using her wedding shoes to attack a doorman.

Sharon Verallo spent her first night as a newly-wed in police custody after she allegedly hit a security man at her nuptial reception around the head with her red stiletto.

The man was taken to hospital where he received treatment to a head injury.

A guest said: "From what I could see, Sharon took her bridal shoe off and whacked the bouncer over the head with it. After that, it all kicked off. There were people in tears, shouting and screaming."

The row allegedly began when the wedding party was asked to leave Swansea wine bar, Champers, at 11 p.m. by security staff.

Painting the town red

A town of Spanish partygoers enjoyed a giant tomato fight.

Tens of thousands of residents in Bunol pelted each other with tons of ripe tomatoes for their yearly food festival known as the 'Tomatina', which is in its 64th year.

The long-standing tradition of covering neighbours in tomatoes originates from an annual food fight between childhood friends.

For two hours, locals blasted one another with the bright red fruit and even forced traffic to halt at the height of the event.

Cars were backlogged for almost two miles as the town - situated 25 miles north of Valencia - was stained red by the residents.

'Sweet tooth'

A British man has complained about a 'sexy' sweet wrapper.

Simon Simpkins wrote to confectioner Haribo to complain about the wrapper on his Maoam chew which, he says, shows a cartoon male lime holding a female lemon in a "sexy clinch".

Simpkins from Pontefract complained the lime had a "lurid and distasteful" grimace on his cartoon face.

Haribo said they had no idea the image could be interpreted as sexual and were unaware it had been perceived that way.

A spokesperson said: "At no point was it intended to create sexual images."
