The seventh annual Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BG&LC) raceday is on at Caymanas Park tomorrow, the 10-race programme featuring a Gimmick race over 200 metres on which betting will be conducted.
Meanwhile, the Pick-9 had no takers at Caymanas Park on Wednesday and the carryover going into tomorrow's meet stands at $1.59 million. The Super-6 was caught by eight punters, each receiving $209,000.
We look at the Super-6 which gets under way in the fifth race over 1400 metres (claiming $270,000-$240,000) to be contested by six starters, including the in-form MEDICAL ACCOUNT who has won three of his last four races.
Easy winner
The nine-year-old gelding ran out an easy winner over 1200 metres n a $255,000 claiming tag when last raced on July 1, and having settled down nicely to his racing in recent months, ought to be followed. Down-in-class MISS TIMS, the mount of champion jockey Omar Walker, should ensure that MEDICAL ACCOUNT is fully extended in the closing stages.
The sixth race over 1100 metres for the Albert Rose Memorial Trophy should resolve itself into a straight fight between NATURAL ATLANTA and ENDURING, who won impressively in non-winners over 1300 metres recently. Despite that easy win by ENDURING, NATURAL ATLANTA (Shane Ellis up) faces her easiest task for some time and thus gets the nod.
The seventh race for the Emancipation Day Trophy over 1300 metres, to be contested by seven starters, promises keen competition with the likes of SKETEL, MINISTEROFFINANCE and JET SKIER having good claims.
The Wayne DaCosta-trained SKETEL, now dropped in class with Walker aboard, should have the beating of this field, but she can ill-afford to leave the gates slowly as she usually does. Still, the trip is ideal for her and I take her to win from MINISTEROFFINANCE.
BROTHERLY LOVE, who ran well in defeat behind FEE FI FOE over 1100 metres recently, gets the nod over BABY JAZZ and MS ANGELICA in the eighth race to be contested by 10 starters.
The ninth race for the BG&LC Trophy over 1400 metres to be contested by 10 starters should see HONEYOFALADY, SHANGHAI PASS, TOBAGO, QUICK AND GRAY and THE GUARDIAN the fancied horses.
The progressive American 3-y-o filly HONEYOFALADY has won four of her last five races. Last time out she beat the subsequent winner HOMBRE in a fast-run 1500 metre race. She steps up to open allowance company pretty light to vie for this trophy, and with in-form Dick Cardenas again in the saddle looks the right choice.
The closing straight five race for $180,000 should see the course specialist DIGI N' JIGGY getting the better of down-in-class THE REBEL and SEA PATROL.
