A mischievous proposal
The Editor, Sir:

The problem with Jamaica's 'chattering class' is that they try to be too smart, as is the case with Dr Derick Stephenson's letter of July 25.

First, I am concerned that the learned doctor is 'mumbling' to himself. I note, too, that Dr Stephenson was expecting the prime minister to be 'trapped'!

Could Dr Stephenson be simply a diehard political supporter of the other political party?

Economic woes

He has suggested that Dr Omar Davies be appointed a minister without portfolio to work with the present government. Dr Stephenson, your memory is failing you. Dr Davies is, in part, the reason for Jamaica's economic woes. To suggest that he is "qualified, has the experience and has been generous with his advice", and that his appointment would unite the parties ... please!

I hope that when you were throwing the 'two stones among the pigeons' it was not at the same time. You are more likely to get your target if you did so one after the other.

I am, etc.,
