Harbour View claim U-15 title

Harbour View captured the first lien on the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA)/Claro Under-15 Champions League trophy with an exciting 2-1 come-from-behind victory over defending champions Cavalier at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Jorginho James scored both goals for Harbour View in the 38th and 65th minutes in a match, which went on for more than 70 minutes (under-15 games only last 70 minutes).

Giovanni Green scored the lone goal for Cavalier in the 19th minute.

Coach delighted

Sidney McFarlene, coach of Harbour View, said he was delighted with his team's efforts.

"It was really a gutsy performance and a total team effort from all our players because everybody played for each other and, hence, we got the required result," said McFarlene.

"I was a bit concerned when we were a goal down, but we were getting a lot of chances and I was wondering when we are going to put them away. However, eventually they came and we were able to win the match," McFarlene said.

Meanwhile Paul Maxwell manager of Cavalier blamed his team defeat on poor marking by his defenders.

"I think that both teams played well, but we made a couple a errors in our defence and Harbour View took advantage of it and eventually won the game," Maxwell said.

"The first goal that we conceded was a gift by one of our defenders and the second one was because of poor marking by our defenders," Maxwell added.

Close to double

Green gave Cavalier the lead when he fired home a powerful 30-yard free-kick which went like a rocket through the legs of goalkeeper Jonah Moreon. A few minutes later, Chevonne Marsh came close to doubling Cavalier's lead, but his point-blank header went wide of the target. Cavalier led 1-0 at half time.

Three minutes into the second half, James gave his team the equaliser when he fired home a close shot past custodian Nico Campbell.

Five minutes later, Harbour View's Sadekie Street thought he had equalised for his team but after outsprinting two Cavalier defenders, his weak shot, with Campbell at his mercy, went wide of the target.

However, the powerfully built James, who was proving a handful for the Cavalier defenders with his quick dribbling skills, scored the winning goal when he arrived at the back post to tap in a cross from Cornell McKen.
