The Pub - An authentic sports bar
Grace-Ann Black, Gleaner Intern

The Absolut Mango martini is a tangy summer drink infused with orange juice and a splash of Blue Curaçao liqueur from The Pub.

What kind of bar is old but new and serves sports along with sushi? Why, The Pub, of course!

Come for the authenticity of a neighbourhood bar with a European style that's been around for over 60 years. General manager, Matthew Garel, notes that it's been around since before he was born, although it looks wonderfully well-preserved.

The Pub Bar & Grill used to be a nameless watering hole by the Mayfair Hotel on West King's House Close. That was until a group of young entrepreneurs bought the bar this year, with plans for rejuvenation and expansion. Of course, it's still the only place you can get sushi delivered from the Cocoro Restaurant, which was voted the best hideaway sushi spot. All this while you watch your favourite team or athlete on the huge flat-screen tv the wall (literally every sport you can think of - you want it, they'll show it). It's a place 'where everyone knows your name', as the polished brown lacquered interior brings to mind the popular TV show Cheers.

Keep your eye on this place, the new owners have only just begun to spread their wings.
