WESTERN BUREAU:

Pier 1, located on the waterfront along Howard Cooke Boulevard in Montego Bay, St James, offers a relaxing and soothing atmosphere that both locals and foreigners have come to enjoy over the years.

General Manager Jason Russell describes Pier 1 as "the place to hang out", as it has been designed and directed by the needs of the people who support the 24-year-old hot spot. The location is always cool as the wind from the sea adds a romantic and relaxing ambience.

"We cater to all ages, but I believe you would need a laid-back, social vibe to come here. We are not too rowdy or crazy and, at the same time, we have fun," Russell said.

Pier 1 is not only known for hosting some of the most popular entertainment events, but also for its excellent lunch and dinner menu and their signature beverages - Pier Memory and Sex on the Pier. Sex on the Pier consists of peach and apricot Schnapps liquor, pineapple juice, orange juice, vodka and ice.

This $500 drink is a hit among patrons. Pier Memory has a similar taste to pina colada but is far more appealing.

Seafood Sundays are also a high point for patrons and Pier 1 is busiest during holidays.
