The 24 students, who completed their basic education for entrance into the primary school system, were encouraged to build on the foundation they received during their tenure at MGBS.
"As you complete this phase of your education, I say to you, dream big dreams and let your dreams open doors of opportunities that will take you to success," Yahneake Sterling, public relations assistant of the SAJ told graduates.
Guest speaker for the graduation, Beverly McBean also had words of encouragement for the students: "Graduates, as you leave for primary school, tell yourselves that you will work hard because only your best is good enough; read more, write more and do your homework."
Encouragement to parents
Richard Troupe, representing the MGBS board, encouraged parents, educators and community members to invest in their children and mould them into model citizens. "Their future cannot be left to chance, their outcome is dependent on what we put in them," Troupe said.
Both McBean and Sterling encouraged parents to play their role in ensuring that their children get the education they deserve. "Their success, their future and the future of this nation rest wholly in your hands. play your part by assisting them with homework and encouraging them to read more," Sterling said
McBean told parents not to abuse their children but rather to use words of encouragement when disciplining them. She also reminded them that children live what they learn and, as such, we should all teach them well.
