Thursday July 2 was special for the residents of the Women's Club home on Gladstone Drive, St Andrew.

Lady Allen, wife of Governor General Sir Patrick Allen, was a guest at the club's recent meeting. She promised the home's president Peggy Blades, that her son Kurt, senior systems analyst for Whirlpool, would favour the group with piano music on his next visit home.

Well, Kurt returned home with his children in late June, kept his promise, and began the lunch date for the seniors by playing the national anthem. He played a number of old favourites including; Colon man a come, Elena, Jane and Louisa, Right through the rocky road, and hymns such as He Leadeth Me.

The seniors were very happy to see Lady Allen again so soon and the first lady told The Gleaner, she was now engaged in gardening, visiting children's homes across the island and getting ready to be grandma to her grandchildren who would be spending the summer with her. She has already made arrangements for summer school.
