MAJ head on int'l university board
Rear Admiral Peter Brady, director general of the Maritime Authority of Jamaica (MAJ), has been reappointed to the board of governors of the World Maritime University (WMU).

Brady was first appointed to the board in 2007 and has completed the stipulated two-year term. Noting his valuable contribution, the secretary general of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), has sanctioned his reappointment to the board.

Much to offer

"I am pleased at this reappointment as it demonstrates that Jamaica has much to offer the international maritime community in various arenas," said Brady.

The WMU was established in 1983 by the IMO to assist developing countries to enhance their human resources by providing postgraduate degrees in specialised maritime areas such as education and training, port management, shipping management and maritime administration.

Today, the WMU has expanded its provisions to include maritime law and policy, marine environmental studies and a number of professional development courses. It also now offers doctoral programmes in maritime administration and maritime law.
