PNP despair
The Editor, Sir:

I am throwing my hands up in despair over the state of the People's National Party (PNP). Jamaica needs a united and active Opposition. We cannot have this continued dismemberment of a party that seemed to have been so organised until now. A party divided within and against itself will most certainly be destroyed. The people of Jamaica need the voice of the Opposition to cry out if there is questionable gover-nance. The continuous infighting can only detract from the required focused attention to the needs of the Jamaican people.

All worthy and sensible team players understand what working as a team means. Every spoke and cog in the wheel is important for its continuous revolutions. The Opposition PNP needs to 'wheel and come again' or it will be in the wilderness for 20 years. They need to resolve their differences for the sake of the party, putting all personalities aside and then focus on how to serve the people that had faith in them to give them their votes.

I wonder if they learnt anything from what happened to the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) when all the infighting which spanned years of bitterness finally ended when the leader was ousted. They should review the situation and consider the consequences of their actions. They must remember that the people are listening and watching.

I am, etc.,
